Dangal Makers Beware! Baahubali 2 To Release In China
The Chinese Censor Board hand picks a handful of foreign films to be screened across the country in a year, and after Aamir Khan's Dangal, now SS Rajamouli's Baahubali 2 will also release in the neighbouring country...
With Baahubali 2: The Conclusion's collection slowing
down now, Aamir Khan's Dangal has a clear road ahead to go on and become the
highest grossing Indian film ever. But sadly, there is a new update which might
not allow Dangal to beat Baahubali 2 in the race.
Baahubali 2 has now got clearance from the Chinese Censor
Board to release across the country in July. Aamir's Dangal currently
stands at Rs 1,501 Crore - out of which Rs 753.23 Crore have come in only from
China. Baahubali 2 stands at Rs 1,565 Crore now. Recently Trade Expert Taran
Adarsh tweeted saying that within a day or two, Dangal might cover the
difference and beat Baahubali 2. But once July comes and the SS Rajamouli
film releases in China, fans can expect Baahubali 2 to once again overtake and
end up being the highest grossing Indian film ever.
Talking about the same, Francois da Silva who presides over the international sales for Arka Mediaworks (Baahubali producers) told Variety magazine, “With Baahubali 2: The Conclusion we are now at $220 million worldwide, without China. Our target now is for China to give us the biggest lifetime score of all time for an Indian movie.”
For all those who've come in late Chinese Censor Board
allows only a certain number of foreign films to be shown across the country in
a calendar year. It's a proud moment for Indians as in 2017 itself, we have
Dangal and Baahubali 2 releasing in China.
