Coolie No 1: Varun Dhawan’s Stunt Goes Terribly Wrong; Actor Saved From a Dangerous Mishap

Recently, while shooting a scene for Coolie No. 1, Varun Dhawan had a life-threatening encounter. According to reports in a daily, the actor escaped a major disaster while filming a stunt sequence for the action-comedy. The film which also stars Sara Ali Khan opposite him is scheduled to release in May 2020. Sara and Varun often share funny videos and pictures of them from the shoot location of the film. After completing their Thailand schedule, Varun was in the outskirts of Pune to shoot for the action sequences.

A report in Mid-day claims, it all happened when the unit was filming a heavy-duty stunt, which required Varun to deliver some close-up shots inside a car as it hung off the cliff. A source from the film’s set revealed to Mid-day, “After Varun filmed his shot, he realized that the car door was jammed and wouldn’t budge. Even though the stunt was rehearsed several times under the supervision of the stunt coordinators and all the safety precautions were employed by the director [David Dhawan], things, unfortunately, went awry.” (ALSO READ: Sara Ali Khan Takes Break From Coolie No 1 To Take Over New York; Actress Literally 'Conquers' The Big Apple)

“What followed was a few minutes of dread as the stunt coordinators tried to get him out of the vehicle. It was proving to be all the more difficult given how precariously the car was balanced on the edge. Varun kept his calm throughout the episode, and finally, escaped unhurt with the help of one of the stunt coordinators,” the source further added.

We hope the cast and crew of the film are safe!

On the professional front, after starring in Coolie No.1, he will be collaborating with his Badlapur director for Sriram Raghavan’s next directorial venture based on the life of 1971 Indo-Pak war martyr Arun Khetarpal.
