Coolie No 1: Varun Dhawan And Sara Ali Khan's Film Gets The Mahurat Clap From Varun's Mother, Karuna Dhawan

Actor Varun Dhawan’s mother Karuna Dhawan gave the Mahurat clap for Coolie No. 1 in Thailand. This remake marks the second collaboration of father-son duo David and Varun Dhawan, first being Judwaa 2.

The shooting of the much-awaited Varun Dhawan and Sara Ali Khan starrer Coolie No 1 begins its shoot schedule in Bangkok today. It is for the first time that Varun and Sara will share screen space, and their fans are already excited to see this collaboration on the big screen. Pictures from the movie sets are out, while Varun gave a nod to his dearest daddy’s project, mommy did her bit as well. David Dhawan’s wife and Varun mother, Karuna Dhawan gave the Mahurat clap for the movie.

While one still has Karuna holding the clapboard with some artists sitting in the background, the other still has a close-up view of the clapboard with camera technicians in the background. On Wednesday Sara was clicked at the airport sporting a Coolie No. 1 jersey in a boomerang video which she had shared on her Insta story. An excited Sara too had shared on her social media handle about the beginning of the film; she wrote in her caption, “Coolie No. 1 begins.”

Writer Farhad Samji sporting a Coolie No. 1 badge shared a short video from the sets announcing about the film going on floors. He wrote in his caption, “1st Day shoot of Coolie No. 1"

Followed by the lead actor Varun like an excited kid shared a funny video prepping for this character, the actor is seen getting shaved for his role of Raju. The video caption read, “Do not take life too seriously. You will never get out of it alive-Elbert Hubbart. N joy karo bhai leaving for coolie no1”



Directed by David Dhawan, the film is produced by Vashu Bhagnani, Jackky Bhagnani & Deepshikha Deshmukh. Coolie No. 1 originally featured Govinda and Karishma Kapoor and was released in 1995. The remake is slated to release on May 1, 2020.
