Coolie No 1: Sara Ali Khan On Being Compared To Karisma Kapoor: ‘Trying To Copy Her Is Impossible To Do’
Sara Ali Khan will soon be seen on screen with Varun Dhawan in their upcoming film Coolie No. 1, and it is one of the most highly anticipated films. Directed by David Dhawan, this film is a remake of the 1995 film starring Karisma Kapoor and Govinda of the same name. The makers finally released the trailer of Coolie No. 1 a few days ago, and it received a great response from the viewers. However, many compared Sara Ali Khan to Karisma Kapoor, and while reacting to it, Sara said that she has not attempted to step into the shoes of Karisma.

Sara Ali Khan, who will reprise Karisma Kapoor’s role in Coolie No.1, has reacted to comparisons being made between the two. While speaking to IANS, Sara said that comparisons are inevitable since it is a remake, however, instead of trying to copy her, Sara has tried to bring a freshness to the role. “She is an iconic star. She redefines the nineties for most audiences. So I don't think I have even attempted to step into her shoes. Of course, it is a remake and comparisons are inevitable. Up until now, I was so much more focussed bringing something new to the table. Everything is kind of tweaked to make it more today," said Sara.

She said that she was ‘zero-year-old’ when the 1995 film Coolie No 1 released and things have changed since then. “I think instead of aping or trying to copy Karisma, which is impossible to do, we have tried to bring a freshness to the role. I enjoyed working with Varun, so it is that chemistry for me that's in the film at opposed to trying to copy Karisma Kapoor because that wouldn't be fun and wouldn't be possible,” said Sara.

Apart from Sara Ali Khan and Varun Dhawan, Coolie No. 1 also stars Paresh Rawal, Javed Jaaferi, and Johnny Lever. The film will release on December 25. ALSO READ: Sara Ali Khan Breaks Her Silence On Getting Lesser Screen Time In Films; Says ‘Aapki Aukat Nahin Hoti To Make Such Comparisons'
