Coolie No 1: Sara Ali Khan Comments On The ‘Problematic’ Plot Of The Original; 'Everybody Expects Everything To Be Politically Correct'

Sara Ali Khan and Varun Dhawan starrer Coolie No 1 is all set to make it to the OTT platform on Christmas. The film directed by David Dhawan is already creating a buzz among the masses with its songs and trailer. Since it is the new and modern version of the original Coolie No 1 that starred Govinda and Karisma Kapoor, comparisons are being drawn between the two. Recently, Sara Ali Khan opened up on the plot of the original film that was considered to be 'problematic'.

The plot of the original film was about Govinda duping Karisma to believe that he is not a coolie. On this, Sara in an interview with Mid-day stated, "I’d urge people to watch the film with the honest intention with which it is told. There is a difference between what you say on Twitter, and what an entertaining comedy tries to say. If everybody [expects] everything to be politically correct, any scope of humour in our lives will be [lost]. Of course, you can’t be demeaning. Govinda sir duping Karisma to make her believe that he is not a coolie, is funny. It’s not about him cheating. Ultimately, he falls in love with her, and that’s what most of us look forward to in life.”

Talking about comedy, Sara also stated that Varun Dhawan helped her to polish her comic timing and she is not spontaneous as her father Saif Ali Khan and mother Amrita Singh.
