Citizenship Amendment Bill: Papon Cancels His Delhi Concert In The Wake Of Curfew Imposed In His State, Assam

Singer Papon took to twitter to announce the cancellation of his upcoming Delhi concert. The singer who was scheduled to perform in Delhi has cancelled his concert amidst the curfew imposed in his homeland, Assam after the passing of Citizenship Amendment Bill. The singer apologized to his fans and assured them to be performing some other time

Citizenship Amendment Bill: Papon Cancels His Delhi Concert In The Wake Of Curfew Imposed In His State, Assam
The citizens of Assam are suffering due to an indefinite curfew imposed in Guwahati and blocking of the mobile services in around 10 districts of the state. Ahead of this curfew, there has been an ongoing protest in the state, leading to a lot of loss in terms of public properties. This curfew was clamped by government post the citizens opposed the Citizenship Amendment Bill. The bill was passed in Lok Sabha on Tuesday and in Rajya Sabha on Wednesday leading to a tense atmosphere in the state. 

One of the Bollywood’s singer and performing artist Angarag Mahanta popularly known as Papon, has hence cancelled his upcoming concert to be held in the country’s capital. The said singer belongs to Assam and has expressed his desire to stand by the citizens of his state in this tensed period. Thus, taking to his Twitter handle he apologized to his fans for cancelling the concert. His tweet read, “It’s painful to see the way Assam is burning! Humanity is suffering! Assam has been burdened with illegal immigration for decades! We don’t deserve this! The diverse, complex mix of the Assamese culture & people and their existence need to be understood! We need to be heard properly”


Along with the apologies, he also assured the audience of their hard money to be refunded by the organizer and the artist shall entertain them with his performance some other day.
