Kabir Khan is celebrated as one of the most versatile and accomplished directors of our time. His career spans a range of genres, showcasing his adaptability and creative prowess. Following the success of "83," a biographical drama about India's 1983 Cricket World Cup victory, Kabir Khan announced his next project, "Chandu Champion," in July 2022. Kartik Aaryan was cast as the lead, with the motion poster of the film released on July 4, 2023. During the filming of "Chandu Champion," reports emerged about Kartik Aaryan's intense physical training for his role. The transformation he achieved was astonishing. Starting at around 90 kgs and unable to do push-ups or pull-ups, Kartik underwent rigorous training and reduced his weight to 72 kgs. His new muscular physique, complete with broad shoulders and six-pack abs, stunned everyone. The film premiered on June 14, 2024, receiving rave reviews. Both Kabir Khan and Kartik Aaryan were praised for their portrayal of this inspiring story with precision and dedication. The release of "Chandu Champion" sparked public interest in the real-life figure behind the story, Murlikant Petkar, also known as Chandu Champion. Born on November 1, 1944, in Maharashtra’s Sangli district, Murlikant Petkar had a notable journey. He served in the Indian Army as a craftsman in the Corps of Electronics and Mechanical Engineers (EME). His early passion was boxing, and he aspired to make a career in the sport. However, an incident during a boxing competition, where he injured the village head's son, led to a controversy that forced him to leave his village.




Following this incident, Murlikant joined the Indian Army's Boys Battalion in Pune, marking the beginning of a remarkable journey. Kabir Khan's film not only highlights the struggles and triumphs of Murlikant Petkar but also brings his lesser-known story to the forefront, inspiring many. Through "Chandu Champion," Kabir Khan and Kartik Aaryan have managed to shed light on an extraordinary individual, reinforcing the director's reputation for storytelling and the actor's commitment to his craft.
