Chanda Mama Door Ke: Sushant Singh Rajput’s 2017 Stalled Space Film To Be Revived As A Tribute To Him; Late Actor’s Fans React

Late Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s passion for outer space, galaxies and stars is known to one and all, especially his fans. The actor had a keen interest in astrophysics which also led to him venturing into films surrounding the same topic. Back in 2017, there was quite a buzz about a film titled Chanda Mama Door Ke which the actor was going to be a part of. Unfortunately, the actor’s busy schedule and unavailability of dates disappointed many fans who wished to see him as an astronaut.
Speaking with MidDay, filmmaker Sanjay Puran Singh recently said in an interview that he will be reviving late Sushant Singh Rajput’s 2017 stalled space film titled Chanda Mama Door Ke as a tribute to him. He said, “I hope I will be able to translate on screen I have visualised in my head and put on paper.” The director also mentioned that he will not be reviving the film right away as “it has not been even a year to Sushant’s passing”. He said that SSR’s demise has been emotionally draining for him as the actor was so passionate about the movie. Sanjay Puran Singh added, “Whenever I make the film, it will be a tribute to Sushant. He was so attached to the script that I owe this to him. He had given a lot of inputs to the material.”
Meanwhile, reacting to the big news, SSR’s friend Smita Parikh expressed her disappointment. She made a tweet and wrote, “Not without our @itsSSR please. If not him no chandamama. Period.” Later, many of Sushant’s fans also reacted to the tweet. Some claimed that the makers might be trying to cash in money using his name.
Reportedly, the late actor was co-producing the film as well. Sushant Singh Rajput had also visited NASA in 2017 to train and prep for the film said the report. It was also reported that the actor purchased land on the moon in the part which is called the ‘dark side of the moon. Sushant Singh Rajput died on June 14, 2020. He was found dead in his Mumbai apartment. And, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) are currently probing the actor’s death.
