A popular actor and former beauty queen, Celina Jaitley never minces words and she often speaks up against the issues that interest her. The actress recently shared her experience of receiving threats and facing challenges for her unwavering support towards the LGBTQIA movement.
In a recent interaction with Masala, Jaitley spoke about the heartbreaking incident that changed her perspective and how her own sexuality was questioned. She also turned candid about her makeup artist Probier Da's death. The latter played a significant role in Celina Jaitley’s life during her struggling years as a young model and was like a mother figure to her. His death deeply affected her and their last conversation was centred around his fears as a gay man including concerns about ageing, not having a life partner or children, and his desire to see Jaitley happily married.
This tragic incident brought about a profound change within Jaitley, highlighting the challenges and stigma faced by the LGBTQIA community.
The actress also shared her encounter with threats from various individuals across the country due to her unwavering support for the community. Celina was shocked upon learning that some of her LGBTQIA colleagues in the film industry distanced themselves from her, fearing exposure of their identities.
Despite the hardships and challenges, Celina continued to remain resolute in her commitment to supporting LGBTQIA organizations, events, and film festivals, despite the risks involved.

Furthermore, she expressed disappointment in certain organizations she supported, as they let her down following the revocation of Section 377, which decriminalized homosexuality in India.
"From facing questions about my own sexuality to threats from extremists and being ostracized by friends and the film industry, I have faced it all, " she said.
