Cancer-Survivor Anurag Basu Lied To Get Out Of A Cancer Awareness Event?
Jagga Jasoos producer-director Anurag Basu had reportedly blamed a Censor Board meeting which ran overtime for his absence from the charity function. That however is untrue
This morning you woke up to the news that Anurag Basu had to skip a cancer awareness event because he apparently told the organisers that he was held up at a meeting with the Censor Board.
Trust SpotboyE.com to have the real story and we can tell you that Basu was NOT present at the Censor Board's Walkeshwar Office- if he had indeed claimed as per the report.

The Censor Board had a meeting with the makers of Ranbir Kapoor-Katrina Kaif starrer Jagga Jasoos, over the certification of its trailer but the film was represented by Chartered Accountant Bimal Parekh and Anurag's wife Tani Basu. Sheetal Talwar (producer of Mausam) was also present at the meeting.
When contacted, Censor Board Chairman Pahlaj Nihalani said: “I never saw Anurag when the trailer of Jagga Jasoos was being worked upon. I never met him. So this accusation that we held him up is completely untrue. Why is the Censor Board made the scapegoat for everything?"

Anurag is a supporter of cancer awareness events because he survived the disease himself. In 2004, the filmmaker was diagnosed with promyelocytic leukemia– a type of blood cancer.

The doctors gave him 2 months to live when he was diagnosed during the filming of Tumsa Nahin Dekha. But he beat the disease.
The question however remains: Where exactly was Anurag at the time of the event in question? We are not holding our breath for this one though.
