BUZZ: Boney Kapoor To Join Zee Group
Sources say that producer Boney Kapoor has joined Zee's board of directors, but the filmmaker denies
Sahara and Boney joined hands in 2008. Boney did not have a great time out there. Now, he joins the Board of Directors in Zee Group. That's the latest buzz in B-town and it's getting louder by the minute.
Boney will be mainly looking into film production work of the Zee Group.
Did politician Amar Singh orchestrate Boney's entry into Zee? Singh is very close to both- Boney Kapoor and Dr Subhash Chandra (ZEEL & Essel Group Chairman),
When Boney joined Sahara, he had told a section of the media: “It’s a big responsibility. When Sahara chief Subrato Roy called me, it wasn’t because I was the most successful or the most capable producer around. I think he saw my past record. I’ve had a good 30 years of experience as a film producer. Yes, I’ve occasionally been on my back-foot. But I think I’ve managed to prove my capabilities in film production. I hope to turn around the fortunes of Sahara’s entertainment section, not because I think of myself as a magician but a person who understands how this business works."

Later, Boney ran into a major controversy. There were reports that he had been asked to quit Sahara.
Sahara owner, Subrata Roy, had reportedly taken over Boney Kapoor’s properties, which he mortgaged while borrowing Rs 85 crore from Sahara Motion Pictures. According to the grapevine, the movie producer was later facing a severe economic crunch. In January 2013, Sandeep Bhargava replaced Boney Kapoor.
Anyway, that's all over. Now, Zee Group is Boney's new, big assignment.
When contacted, Boney however denied, saying, "Rubbish. This is not true. But if you can recommend me for the same, please do let me know."
Sources however insist that an official announcement about Boney's appointment from Zee Group is expected next week.
