Box-Office Report Card: Boosted By Kabir Singh, Mission Mangal, Uri Bollywood’s Collective Collections Touch Rs 3000 CRORE

Box-Office Report Card: Boosted By Kabir Singh, Mission Mangal, Uri Bollywood’s Collective Collections Touch Rs 3000 CRORE
We’re still about 4 months shy of calling it a year and Bollywood seems to have amassed a collective earning of Rs 3000 Crore via various releases over the last 8 months. This figure is expected to soar and scream by the time we hit December 31 and touch Rs 5000 Crore or thereabouts. The Hindi film industry is having a bumper year, powered by success stories like Kabir Singh, Mission Mangal, Uri, Kesari, Bharat and films like Super 30, Saaho, Dream Girl, Chhichhore and others. 2019 has been a star performer when you compare it to the last few years.

Powered by stories that make a tug at your heartstrings films like Mission Mangal, Super 30, Chhichhore pedalled the numbers to glory. Then there were the year’s star performers – firstly, the Shahid Kapoor and Kiara Advani starrer, Kabir Singh that has amassed close to Rs 278 Crore till date. Coming close, but not quite, was the year’s sleeper hit, Uri: The Surgical Strike, whose collective earnings stand at Rs 244 Crore. Mission Mangal has brought home Rs 200 Crore and counting. Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif’s Bharat that released earlier this year, might not have been the critics’ favourite, but it managed to rake in Rs 204 Crore.




Films like Super 30 got home Rs 145 Crore, Saaho Rs 140 Crore, Chhichhore Rs 90 Crore plus and Dream Girl on the upwards of Rs 50 Crore and still counting. Akshay Kumar’s Kesari also amassed solid numbers, collecting a whopping Rs 200 Crore plus at the ticket windows.



As per a report in HT, Bollywood collected Rs 3,780 crore in 2015, Rs 3,808 crore in 2016 and Rs 4,096 crore in 2017. We still have about 4 months to go before we seal the year and we have films like War, Housefull 4, Bala, Pagalpanti, Saand Ki Aankh, Made In China, Panipat, Pati Patni Aur Woh, Mardaani 2, Dabangg 3 and Good Newwz slated for release. Their collective numbers will add on to the Rs 3000 Crore that Bollywood has already banked, promising to make 2019 one of the most profitable years for the Hindi film industry.
