Border 2: Varun Dhawan To Play Suniel Shetty's Son In The Anticipated Sequel? Here's What We Know
Bollywood actor Varun Dhawan, who recently garnered acclaim for his cameo in the blockbuster film "Stree 2," is set to embark on a new cinematic journey that pays homage to the legacy of 1990s Indian cinema. He will star in the highly anticipated war drama "Border 2," a sequel to the iconic film "Border," which originally depicted the valiant events of the Battle of Longewala. Sunny Deol, known for his impressive performance in last year’s hit "Gadar 2," welcomed Varun to the project through an engaging post on Instagram. In a captivating text-based video, Varun’s voice rings out with patriotic fervor: “Dushman ki har goli se, ‘Jai Hind’ bol ke takraata hoon. Jab dharti maa bulaati hai, sab chhod kar aata hoon.” This stirring dialogue is paired with Sonu Nigam's nostalgic track "Aye Guzarane Waali Hawa," evoking a sense of pride and nostalgia among viewers. The sentiment expressed in Varun's lines closely mirrors that of Suniel Shetty's character from the original "Border," suggesting that Varun may portray the son of Shetty’s iconic role.

"Border 2" boasts an impressive ensemble cast, including Sunny Deol, Siddhartha Chaturvedi, Vedant Raina, and Aditya Roy Kapur, all directed by Anurag Singh. While the first film focused on the 1971 Indo-Pakistani War, this sequel is expected to delve into the Kargil War of 1999, a significant conflict characterized by Pakistani troops infiltrating Indian territory in Kargil. India’s determined military response successfully reclaimed most of the occupied areas.

Presented by Gulshan Kumar and T-Series alongside JP Dutta's J.P. Films, "Border 2" is produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, JP Dutta, and Nidhi Dutta. The film is slated for release in theaters on January 23, 2026, and promises to be a powerful addition to India's cinematic portrayal of war and patriotism.
