Boney Kapoor On Son Arjun Kapoor’s ‘Strained’ Relationship With Salman Khan; Filmmaker Says, ‘They’re Not On Good Terms’
Boney Kapoor opened up about how Salman Khan influenced his son Arjun Kapoor’s decision to grow as an actor and shed light on their alleged strained relationship
When Arjun Kapoor made his much-awaited debut with Ishaqzaade in 2012, Bollywood star Salman Khan extended a lot of support to the budding actor. Despite reports stating that the former romantic relationship with Arpita Khan ended on bad terms, Salman became a strong pillar of support for Arjun as he navigated the beginning of his career as an actor. However, over the years their relationship soured and it was heavily reported that it was due to the younger actor dating Malaika Arora, Arbaaz Khan’s ex-wife. While the actors have refused to comment on their alleged ‘strained relationship,’ now Boney Kapoor has shared his two cents.
In a recent interview with News18 Showsha, Boney opened up about Arjun and Salman’s bitter relationship. Crediting the 58-year-old actor for influencing his son’s growth as an actor, the filmmaker explained that he never knew his son wanted to act. It was Salman who called him up to let him know about it and helped Arjun lose weight. Quoted by the Free Press Journal, he added, “It was Salman who called me up and said, ‘He will become an actor.’ I mean, he took it upon himself and made him lose weight. Imagine, at that time, he was a very healthy child.” ALSO READ: Boney Kapoor REVEALS He Never Interfered In Arjun Kapoor, Janhvi Kapoor’s Relationships: It’s Their Personal Life
Shedding light on their soured relationship, the 68-year-old filmmaker said, “Whatever said and done today, maybe they’re not on good terms, I mean, the equation is not that good, but he gave him his best. And Arjun’s growth really was influenced a lot by Salman, where his outlook to acting is concerned, his outlook to films are concerned, and he shaped up. I mean he gave him, rather inculcated in him, the importance of having a good body.” ALSO READ: Arjun Kapoor Promotes Girlfriend Malaika Arora’s Son Arhaan Khan’s Debut Podcast Dumb Biryani – WATCH
