Bollywood Strike Intensifies As 16 People Go On Bhook-Hartal, What Are The Producers Doing?

"16 people have gone on hunger strike, which includes 6 women as well. It's been 3 days since we have been out, in this scorching sun but not a single member from the producers’ association has come and spoken to us," said FWICE President Birendra Nath Tiwari.

Members of IMPPA (Indian Motion Picture Producers Association) had met this afternoon to discuss the FWICE strike. After the meeting Ashoke Pandit tweeted the producer’s stand. Check it out:

Ashoke's tweet read, "Press Release issued by #IndianMotionProducersAssocation against the strike called by the #FWICE (sic)."

The press release clearly mentions that there were no meetings held by FWICE with IMPPA members before going on strike.

Tiwari retorted to the press release by saying, "They (IMPPA) are lying. There is protocol to be followed, before calling for a strike. We need to inform the other party, 14 days before going on strike. We had sent formal communications to the various unions and organisations about the strike. How can they say that we hadn't informed them or asked for a meeting with them? An intimation was sent via the High Court, which was also sent to the Police Commissioner of Mumbai. So when everyone was informed beforehand why is IMPAA saying that they were not informed?"
A few media reports also claimed that the workers’ demands have been met and the strike has been called off.

"Those are false reports. No one from the producers associations has met us in these three days. So there is no question of our demands being met. They have to meet us first in order to discuss the demands. There is no question of the strike being called off. We had previously thought of keeping the strike from August 15 - August 18, but we had also mentioned that if the demands aren't met by the said date we shall continue with our strike, and that's exactly what we are going to do," concluded Tiwari.
