Binodini Dasi Biopic: Deepika Padukone's Loss Is Aishwarya Rai Bachchan's Gain; Latter Signs Pradeep Sarkar’s Next
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has reportedly given a nod to portray the charter of Binodini Dasi aka Noti Binodini in the biopic helmed by Pradeep Sarkar. It was being reported that Pradeep has been looking for a power pact actress to pull off the 19th-century Bengali courtesan Binodini’s role and Deepika Padukone and Vidya Balan were earlier approached for the same but due to some reasons it didn’t work out and both the actresses refused the part. Reportedly, Deepika stated that she doesn’t want to do another emotionally draining film after Chhapaak. Now, seems like Mr. Sarkar has finally found his leading lady and she’s none other than Aishwarya Rai Bachchan.

Confirming the same, Pradeep told Time Of India, “Aishwarya was always on my mind for the biopic. I did reach out to her a few months ago. In the first narration itself, she liked the story and has said ‘yes’ to the project. I seriously think that she will." The filmmaker also threw light on the project and mentioned that Binodini Dasi was one of the first people in Kolkata to have aspired to be a producer. He mentioned that there is little stuff to read on the 19th century’s courtesan who went on to become an actress and how she went through various ups and downs in her life. He further quipped, “What all she had to do to achieve her goal makes an interesting story. She faced a lot of ups and downs. People, who were close to her, took her for a ride. Usne bohot saare dhokhe khaaye hai. It’s a wonderful tale and I hope things fall into place.”
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s last release was Fanney Khan, which did not live up the expectation at the box-office. Guru actress, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has a busy 2020 with several movies lined up for the year. She will also be seen in Ponniyin Selvan directed by Mani Ratnam, Gulab Jamun directed by Anurag Kashyap and Jasmine Story Of A Leased Womb directed by Shree Narayan Singh.
