Balaji Motion Pictures' CEO Aman Gill Resigns
Ekta Kapoor has stopped producing films, for sometime at least. Come next Thursday, CEO Aman Gill will no more be a part of her company
Aman joined Balaji Motion Pictures, a 100 per cent subsidiary of Balaji Telefilms Limited. He assumed his new role in early December 2015, and reported directly to Sameer Nair, Group CEO, Balaji Telefilms. He had replaced Shubhodip Pal, who had joined the company in April 2015.
In his new role, Gill had assumed all responsibilities spanning film development -- creative, production, marketing, distribution, and syndication. He will have all division heads report directly to him.
With Balaji Motion PIctures now having applied brakes on their film production, Aman decided that he surely could not be doing nothing in the office and so decided to move on.
A source says, "Aman will take a break for a month or two and then chalk out his plan of action."
Meanwhile, various ideas of restrategising Balaji are being discussed. The focus is largely going to be on Television and Digital from here on.
Prior to Balaji Motion Pictures, Gill served with Junglee Pictures, where he was the chief content officer since June 2014. During his tenure, the company released films like Dil Dhadkane Do and Talvar.
Prior to his stint with Junglee Pictures, Gill set up the film talent and literary business at CAA-KWAN, the celebrity and sports management agency, from 2012 to 2014. He also headed the acquisition and domestic distribution functions at Viacom 18 Motion Pictures from 2006 to 2010.
Gill started his career with Applause Entertainment, where he was assistant vice-president, content, where he earned his first film credit as an executive producer in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's film Black.
