Baaghi 3 Director Ahmed Khan On Coronavirus Impacting Box-Office Collections, 'Had Expected More But You Can't Fight Nature'
Director Ahmed Khan believes if Coronavirus scare had not been there Tiger Shroff and Shraddha Kapoor starrer Baaghi 3 could have collected close to Rs 30 crore on day one.
Tiger Shroff and Shraddha Kapoor starrer Baaghi 3 director Ahmed Khan is overwhelmed with such a positive response of the film right from the first day. The 3rd instalment of the much-loved franchise hit the screens on March 6, 2020, amidst Coronavirus scare. The virus originated from Wuhan, China in December last year and has already claimed 3,000 lives in the country. COVID-19 has traveled to different parts of the world. So much so that filmmakers across the globe have considered postponing their upcoming releases.
If given a chance, Ahmed Khan would have also considered postponing the release of the film, starring Tiger Shroff and Shraddha Kapoor. Speaking to PTI, Khan said, “Malls are not functioning, shops are not working, considering the situation, cinema is the last thing people want to go to. In such a scenario, the film has earned Rs 17.50 to Rs 18 crore and it is overwhelming. Even if we had made Rs 7 to 8 crore then also it would have been good. It is the biggest opening of the year till now. We had expected much more but you can't fight almighty and nature.”
The filmmaker went on to say that under normal circumstances, they may have witnessed the film’s collection close to Rs 30 crore on day one.
Meanwhile, Tiger and Shraddha starrer earned Rs 17.50 cr on Day 1 followed by Rs 16.03 cr on Day 2 making a total collection of Rs 33.53 cr at the box-office. Let’s wait and watch if the film sees a substantial growth on Holi.
