Azam Khan Gets Booked For His “Khaki Underwear” Comment Against Jaya Prada
An FIR has been filed against Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan for making a derogatory comment against the actor-turned-politician Jaya Prada
Samajwadi
Party leader Azam Khan has been booked by Rampur police for his derogatory
comment against the actor-turned-politician Jaya Prada. A case has been
registered against Khan under Section 509 of the Indian Penal Code (word,
gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman). Jaya Prada is a BJP
Rampur candidate.
Addressing a
rally in Rampur, the SP leader Azam Khan had said, “I brought her (Jaya Prada)
to Rampur. You are a witness that I did not allow anyone to touch her body. It
took you 17 years to identify her real face but I got to know in 17 days that
she wears khaki underwear.”
Post his
comment against Jaya Prada, the National Commission for Women (NCW) had
strongly condemned his remark and served a notice to him.
Reacting to
his comments, the actress-turned-politician told ANI, “It isn't new for me. You
might remember that I was a candidate from his party in 2009 when no one
supported me after he made comments against me. It's his habit to make such
comments. I'm a woman and I can't even repeat what he said. He has crossed his
limits. I don't know what I did to him that he is saying such things. Now that
FIR has been filed against him, I want that he shouldn't be elected and he
should be banned from fighting the elections. If this man wins, what will
happen to democracy? There'll be no place for women in society. Where will we
go? Should I die, and then you'll be satisfied? You think that I'll get scared
and leave Rampur? But I won't leave."
Yesterday, Khan was banned from campaigning for
next 3 days, starting from today for violating the Model Code of Conduct during
their election campaign in Rampur.
