Ayushmann Khurrana’s Badhaai Ho Gets Four South Remakes, Boney Kapoor Acquires The Rights
Ayushmann Khurrana’s Badhaai Ho was one of the biggest blockbusters of 2018. Apart from Ayushmann, the dramedy also starred Sanya Malhotra, Neena Gupta and Gajraj Rao in the lead. Helmed by Amit Sharma, the movie broke the age-old taboo with it’s thought provoking message. And Boney Kapoor is very keen to remake Badhaai Ho in asfour South Indian languages.

After acquiring the rights of Amitabh Bachchan and Taapsee Pannu starerr Pink for its Tamil version titled Nerkonda Paarvai starring Ajith, Vidya Balan and Shraddha Srinath, Boney Kapoor has acquired the rights for South Indian remakes from Junglee Pictures for Badhaai Ho.

Confirming the news Boney told Mirror, “Yes, I have acquired the rights to all the South languages. It’s a film that resonates with both the masses and classes so I was keen on remaking it. The Hindi version has done extremely well in the heartland, in fact, across the country, and I am confident the reception down South will be as overwhelming. I am yet to decide whether the Tamil or the Telugu version go on the floors first as it’s work in progress.

However he revealed that the first priority will be to complete the shoot of Pink remake Nerkonda Paarvai. "Right now, my priority is to complete Nerkonda Paarvaibecause though I have made films down South with Ram Gopal Varma (the Telugu films Raatri and Antham), I’m returning to the South after 25 years. Anyway, I am still to lock the director and artistes which will take a while", he said.

Badhaai Ho is based on a 25-year-old boy who finds out that his middle-aged parents are pregnant and how he deals with it.
