Arjun Kapoor Shares He Signed 'Film After Film' To Escape From The Pain Of Losing His Mother; Also Speaks About Body-Shaming In India
Bollywood actor Arjun Kapoor marked his debut with the film Ishaqzaade opposite Parineeti Chopra. Since then, the actor has featured in back-to-back films. Ahead of Arjun’s Bollywood debut, he lost his mother, Mona Shourie. Speaking at India Today e-Mind Rocks 2021, Arjun Kapoor spoke about his career and how he signed film after film after his mother’s demise. The actor also opened up about completing a decade in the Hindi film industry and how he managed to work in 16 films in a short period of time.

He said, "I took on too much work to run away from personal issues of losing my mother and somewhere that helped. I have made 16 films in the last 9-10 years. I have done a lot of work. But I did not take out enough time for myself, as in for my own mental health and physical health. So, going ahead I would like to change that. I think the best part is that I have been able to make a career for myself and be independent. I come from a good family, I am privileged, I am someone who is well taken care of. I have had my own struggles and journey, which cannot be compared."

Arjun Kapoor has left everyone in shock with his massive transformation. Talking about the same, the actor said how it’s wrong to equate fitness with being thin. “Fitness is equated to being thin. During Ishaqzaade, I was 95 kgs, which is a lot of weight to carry. But, it was fine as I had abs.”

Arjun also spoke about body shaming. He said, “India has issues with colour, size and structure. I am a big (structured) guy. I embrace it positively," adding, “you can’t put other people down. You might be slightly overweight, doesn’t mean you go into a dark hole.” Also Read: Shanaya Kapoor, Khushi And Anshula’s Stunning Lehengas Scream Attention; Kapoor Sisters Make Baby Shower A Fashionable Event- See Pics

Arjun Kapoor even spoke about how he started overreacting after his parents decided to get a divorce. The actor said he found solace in food when his parents separated. He said, “I remember being okay with my size. I was fine, not conscious. But it happened in one summer. My parents separated and I took solace in food. That changed my life. It was my way of hiding and eating, trying to find happiness between sadness.”

Arjun Kapoor and his sister Anshula Kapoor are producer Boney Kapoor’s kids with his first wife, Mona Shourie. Boney Kapoor has two daughters - Janhvi Kapoor and Khushi Kapoor - with second wife, Sridevi.
