Arjun Kapoor Reveals He Was Offered Shahid Kapoor's Part In Kabir Singh; Here's Why He Backed Out

Shahid Kapoor and Kiara Advani starrer Kabir Singh has been enjoying a dream run at the box office and was a blockbuster hit, having crossed Rs 275 crore. The film left a mark and despite a section of audience criticizing the film for glorifying toxic masculinity, it was a huge success in terms of box office figures and many lauded the actors’ brilliant performances. Shahid Kapoor as Kabir Singh received a lot of praises from viewers and they can’t imagine anyone else playing the role so flawlessly. But looks like Arjun Kapoor was the one that the producers had considered for the lead role.
On Saturday, Arjun Kapoor said that the producers of the film- Ashwin Varde and Murad Khetani- had him in mind when they bought the rights. According to India Today, Arjun said at an event in Mumbai, , “It did not reach that stage where I could chose or not. When the rights were being acquired by (producers) Ashwin (Varde) and Murad (Khetani), who made Mubarakan, they acquired keeping me in mind. Sandeep Vanga, the director had met Shahid and he had seen the film before and they decided to do the film together.” Arjun Kapoor also added that the film needed Sandeep Vanga and since the latter had already committed to Shahid, Arjun respected that . He added, “I did not want my producers sitting around with the rights of the film and not making it out of me being in an ego tussle with anybody.”
Despite all of this Arjun Kapoor is all praises for Shahid Kapoor and his performance in Kabir Singh. Arjun said, “Shahid is a fantastic choice and he has done it fantastically. He is a fantastic actor. The film has fine Rs 275 crore.”
