The rising star of the Indian rap scene, Raftaar, will collaborate with AR Rahman on the soundtrack of Saath
SpotboyE.com
had earlier told you that Anil Kapoor had revived the film Saath which will be
directed by daughter Rhea Kapoor’s beau Karan Bhoolani (Anil Kapoor Revives Saath, Ropes In AR Rahman, Dec 4).
Anil had asked AR Rahman to start work on the
film's soundtrack and now we can tell you that the Oscar-winning composer has
roped in Dhaakad rapper Raftaar for a song in the film.

A source close to Rahman says, “Yes,
Raftaar has sung a peppy number for Rahman. The song was recorded in the US.
Rahman sir liked Raftaar’s way of working and there is a distinct possibility
that both could collaborate once again for another project.”
Explaining what clinched the deal for Raftaar,
the source added, "Rahman wanted a rapper who could emulate the Haryanvi
accent properly and Raftaar has proven that he can do that with Dhaakad, the
hit number from Aamir Khan’s Dangal."
The album
of Saath will comprise of five to six songs, out of which three have been
recorded. The final mixing of those nunbers will begin shortly.
Initially the film was titled Saat Hindustani.
Saath is about seven students based abroad and is conceptualised by Mehul Suri
who had co-written Teen Thay Bhai. Seven new actors will be introduced in the
film.
Given the
international milieu of the film, Rahman is working on a fresh sound for the
film and strongly believes that rap fits in perfectly with the script revolving
around young students.
So, is this the beginning of a new
composer-singer jodi in Bollywood? Let’s wait and watch.
