Writer Apurva Asrani known for films like Aligarh and
Shahid, and most recently in news for his public fallout with Kangana Ranaut
over Simran, has always been an advocate of #loveislove. He is one of the few
people in the public glare to have come out of the closet, rather early on.
After Supreme Court’s landmark judgement decriminalising
homosexuality in India, the LGBT community is over the moon, and so are
supporters of gay pride. Beaming with joy, Apurva shared a loved-up picture
with his manlove, Siddhant Pillai. The two can be seen posing in front of the

Apurva and Siddhant have been together for the last 11
years. Last year in an interview to Hindustan Times, Apurva had waxed eloquent
about his relationship, “We have taken each day as it came, refusing to fly
into rosy notions of eternal romance. If you wake up every day, not bound by
any social contract, and still want to be together, that’s magic!”
Siddhant and Apurva, stay together in Mumbai, their
parents support the decision. “All our parents wanted to know if we had a
stable partner who will stick by us through thick and thin. Our happiness
mattered the most to them. When they saw that we share the same values, they
were relieved,” added Asrani. More power this lovely couple!
