Anurag Kashyap Recalls His Fight With Karan Johar: ‘He Called Me A Psychopath, I Called Him A Fat Kid Who Thinks He’s In School’
Anurag Kashyap has been one of the pioneers in the Indie space and is one of the best critically acclaimed filmmakers in the country. He has directed films like Gangs of Wasseypur, Dev.D, Black Friday, etc., which have gone on to have a following. His latest venture is a movie on Netflix named Choked: Paisa Bolta Hai which released a few days ago on the streaming platform. Choked, starring Saiyami Kher and Roshan Matthews opened to positive reviews from the audience. However, before he was successful as a director, Anurag Kashyap had also forayed into acting.

In an interview with Sit With Hitlist, the director shared his journey and talked about various stories of his through his career. One such story that stood out was his fight with Karan Johar which was pretty public as both of them mentioned things about the other in interviews. Recalling the story, Kashyap said, “Karan Johar gave an interview calling me a psychopath. Till then we had not met. I called him a fat kid, who still thinks he is in school. Remember we had this fight in mid-day. I also said something about Anil Kapoor in the interview that became a headline. But people always knew I was childlike."

He also discussed his acting foray before he got successful as a director. “I had just discovered theatre, and was told that you need to get pictures clicked, if you want work. I did, after collecting Rs 3000, which was a big sum then. And I started doing a lot of acting on stage, and I did some films,” he said.


Anurag Kashyap also recalled the time when he reached Shah Rukh Khan’s bungalow Mannat, and used his college connection as they both were students at Hansraj college in Delhi University. He revealed that he was hungry and walked into SRK’s house, and he remembers the superstar feeding him omelet as that was the only thing he knew how to make.
