Acclaimed Bollywood actor Anupam Kher emphasized that he didn't have to fake his emotions while portraying the profound role of a Kashmiri Pandit in the highly successful film, The Kashmir Files, directed by Vivek Agnihotri. During an appearance at the 'Abhivyakti' literary festival, organized by the Army Wives Welfare Association (AWWA) in Pune, he also expressed his happiness regarding the inauguration of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya on January 22, affirming his intention to attend the idol consecration ceremony regardless of receiving an invitation. Anupam Kher asserted that his portrayal in The Kashmir Files was 'remarkable performance' and deemed it worthy of a National Award. Nevertheless, he also acknowledged that those who received the prestigious awards were entirely deserving of the recognition. Speaking about this, he said, "My role in Kashmir Files was soulful as I did not have to depend on acting. I did not have to fake my emotions. I try and bring truth in my emotions as some roles do not require honesty of that level because it requires craft." During the 69th National Film Awards, The Kashmir Files bagged two prestigious awards – 'Best Feature Film on National Integration' and the 'Best Supporting Actress' title for Pallavi Joshi. The veteran actor said that he's entitled to feel disappointed about not receiving the award and affirmed that he has the right to express his sentiments on the matter. The 68-year old was lauded for his performance as Pushkar Nath in The Kashmir Files which was a box office hit.
