Anubhav Sinha Asked To Make A Film On Slain Gangster Vikas Dubey; Filmmaker Replies ‘Koi Banaane Nahin Dega Sir’
Filmmaker Anubhav Sinha, known to have made some hard-hitting films like Thappad, Mulk, Article 15 related to important issues, was asked to make a film on gangster Vikas Dubey. Here’s how he replied
Filmmaker Anubhav Sinha has always been vocal about the political and social situations in the country and has fearlessly aired his views on social media. He is also known to have made hard-hitting films related to important social issues. He directed the 2018 film Mulk starring Rishi Kapoor, Taapsee Pannu, as well as Ayushmann Khurrana starrer Article 15 which raised important issues related to caste. More recently, his film Thappad starring Taapsee Pannu dealt with Taapsee’s character seeking justice for a slap by her husband, and the film received massive critical acclaim.
So it wasn’t surprising as Anubhav Sinha got a request to make a film on the notorious gangster Vikas Dubey. The tweet addressed to Anubhav Sinha read, “Yaar @anubhavsinha . #VikasDubey par kuch banao. Is baar dark comedy.” The filmmaker replied that people won’t allow the film to be made. He also wrote that the topic is too dark to be a comedy. Anubhav Sinha’s tweet read, “Koi banaane nahin dega Sir..... Also too dark to be comic... To dark...”

For those unaware, it was last week that gangster Vikas Dubey organized the massacre of eight policemen in Kanpur, and had been on the run since them. He was arrested at a temple in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh. Vikas Dubey was killed this morning. As per reports in TOI, he was fired at when he tried to flee after a police convoy taking him to Kanpur had overturned. Dubey had reportedly snatched the gun from one of the 4 injured policemen and was injured in the encounter, after which, doctors declared him dead at the hospital.
