Amitabh Bachchan’s Jhund Co-Star Priyanshu Kshatriya Arrested For Alleged Theft Of Jewellery And Cash Worth Rs 5 Lakhs- Reports
Nagraj Manjule’s critically acclaimed movie Jhund’s actor Priyanshu Kshatriya, who essayed the role of Babu Chetri has been arrested by the Nagpur Police. According to police officials, the 18-year-old has been charged for alleged theft of jewellery and cash worth Rs 5 lakhs. The stole items have been recovered.

Pradeep Mondawe, 64, a resident of Mankapur area had filed a complaint about a burglary in his house. According to India.com, a minor suspect caught by the police revealed Priyanshu’s involvement in the theft. Reports say that after being produced before the court, the actor was in police custody till November 25.

According to India.com, the stolen items were recovered from a pigeon box in Gaddigodam area, which was also featured in Amitabh Bachchan’s Jhund. This is not the first time the young boy was caught committing a crime. He has been previously arrested for allegedly stealing mobile phones of train passengers, shared a police official.

For the unversed, Nagraj Manjule’s Jhund was inspired by the life of Vijay Barse, a former sports teacher who introduced football to kids living in the slums in order to keep them away from a life of crime and addictions. Released in March 2022, renowned musicians Ajay-Atul had given their music to the movie.

Reminiscing the days of his shoot, Amitabh Bachchan in an interview with Bollywood Hungama, had recalled a heart-wrenching incident. He had shared that while shooting an emotional scene, one of the kids had asked him how one is supposed to cry. He said, “I remember one thing. There is a scene in the film where the kids are in tears. Before the scene, one of the kids came up to me and asked, 'Sir, rote kaise hain?' There is a lot of pain in this. This kid had reached a point where he was beyond crying. He may have never cried in his life. Probably his circumstances and the way he lived and the atmosphere he grew up in were so harsh that maybe he was beyond crying. That moment stayed with me for so long.”

Even after being praised by the critics and the audience, the movie failed to perform at the box-office.
