Amitabh Bachchan Refuses To Accept UP Government Pension
Amitabh Bachchan has politely turned down the Uttar Pradesh government's offer to award him and his family (Jaya and Abhishek) a monthly pension of Rs 50,000 each.

He has requested the authorities to instead donate the designated amount to any charitable cause.

The UP cabinet had decided to pay a monthly pension to all recipients of Yash Bharti Samman, which is the state's highest honour. All three Bachchans are recipients of the honour.

Big B's official statement reads:
"Whereas I respect the UP Govt's honour of the Yash Bharti Award to members of my family, and their decision as per reports in the press, for providing pension of Rs 50, 000 per month to each recipient, I am requesting the UP Govt., with all humility, to redirect the entire amount designated for my family towards any noble charitable scheme or cause that benefits the poor and the needy. I shall be writing to the Chief Minister in this regard, in a separate communication."

Following media reports about the UP government's decision, a lot of people had expressed severe displeasure on social media.
