Alok Nath Maybe Falsely Accused Of Rape By Vinta Nanda, Says Court As It Grants Him Bail
Vinta Nanda’s #MeToo movement earns a setback of sorts as Mumbai court gives Alok Nath the benefit of doubt
The Mumbai sessions court has granted bail to senior actor Alok Nath, who has been accused of rape by Vinta Nanda. As the court announced the bail, it stated that Vinta Nanda “did not lodge the report immediately after the alleged incident for her own benefit.” The court even observed that “possibility cannot be ruled out that the applicant has been falsely accused in the crime.”
Nath, 62, was granted an anticipatory bail in the ongoing case on Saturday. "In view of all these facts, the possibility cannot be ruled out that the applicant (Alok Nath) has falsely been enroped in the crime," judge SS Oza said in a 15-page order, allowing for a pre-arrest bail on a surety of Rs. 5 lakh to Alok Nath.

Alok Nath & Vinta Nanda
The judge noted that the accusations raised by Vinta Nanda might be the cause of “unrequited and unreciprocated love” for Nath. "The offence against the actor has been registered on the basis of patently defamatory, false, malicious, derogatory and imaginary report of the first informant or complainant (Ms Nanda)," the judge said. "The report or complaint is inspired by the complainant's personal vendetta towards him," the court said.
An FIR was filed against Alok Nath on November 21 by the Mumbai police after Vinta Nanda placed rape allegations against him, claiming that he raped her more than once, 19 years ago. His lawyer has denied the allegations. Vinta had even spoken exclusively to SpotboyE.com.
Now, with the recent developments in the case, we wonder what's going to be Ms Nanda's next move.
