Alia Bhatt is surely one of the most sought-after actresses in Bollywood. Having completed almost a decade in the industry, she has worked with the who’s who of the industry. She has given the audience memorable movies like Highway, Raazi, Dear Zindagi, Udta Punjab, and Gangubai Kathiawadi amongst many others.

She has proved naysayers wrong by showing that even if nepotism gives one a break in the industry, it is only with hard work and dedication that they can flourish. However, achieving the fame that she has today wasn’t always easy. In an interview with Marie Claire, the actress, who is currently enjoying motherhood, opened up about her obsession with her body and her weight. Revisiting her Student Of The Year days, the 29-year-old actress shared that being obsessed with how she looks took a toll on her. She said, "You think that’s the way it’s supposed to be. And it took a bit of a toll on me in terms of my obsession with my body and my weight."


Sharing a piece of advice to the younger generation, she said people need to be kinder to their bodies. She shared that picking on yourself means allowing others to do the same. She said, "It’s not about every little splodge of skin on your body. You can’t be squishing it and thinking, This is an issue. That is an issue. I’m saying, if you pick on yourself first, then you’re inviting every other [person’s] negative thoughts towards your body."

For the unversed, Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor got married in April, in the presence of their family and friends. Three months later they announced their pregnancy, and the couple was subjected to criticism over conceiving a child before marriage. On the work front, Alia Bhatt was last seen in Ayan Mukerji’s Brahmastra and Red Chillies Entertainment’s Darlings. She will be returning to shoot for her upcoming movie Rani Aur Rocky Ki Prem Kahani in a few weeks. The movie will mark the directorial return of Karan Johar and star Ranveer Singh, Dharmendra, Jaya Bachchan and Shabana Azmi. She will also collaborate with Katrina Kaif and Priyanka Chopra Jonas on Farhan Akhtar’s upcoming movie, Jee Le Zara.
