Alia Bhatt Expresses Concern Over Students Without Internet Access; Actress Contributes To Ensure They Can Access Online Classes- VIDEO
Amid the pandemic, many Bollywood celebrities have come forward to donate and contribute in any way they can. While some are working relentlessly to ensure the supply of oxygen, and medical resources, many have donated financially to support a good cause at a time when the country is facing COVID crisis. Alia Bhatt recently expressed her concern over kids who do not have access to Internet, and cannot afford to attend online classes. She contributed to Salaam Bombay Bridge The Gap program to ensure that young students without proper data resources can access online classes.

Alia Bhatt shared a video, in which she said that schools have been shut due to the pandemic and that a lot of the schooling has moved online. She then questioned how are children from poor families, who have no acess to WiFi, data, or even devices, seeking education. She said that due to lack of Internet access, many of the students have lost out on a year of education, and that the longer they stay out of school, the less likely they are, to return. She further added that she has contributed to Salaam Bombay Foundation to ensure that education continues for kids.

Sharing the video, she tweeted, “The pandemic has brought with it several challenges, interrupting the education of so many young students, especially the poorest and most vulnerable. The biggest challenge is the digital divide - online classes are an option very few can afford. @salaambbayorg.” Alia also urged people to contribute if they can, or share this.

Salaam Bombay #BridgeTheGap has been working to get more students back online, by giving them access to a data pack that helps the children attend online classes.
