The devastating second wave of COVID-19 has been wreaking chaos all over India. It has been a challenging time, and during these bleak times, many Bollywood celebrities and famous personalities have come forward to help and contribute in any way that they can. From donating funds, to arranging for oxygen cylinders, medicines, hospital beds and more, celebs have been using their social media platforms for greater reach. Akshay Kumar, who had donated oxygen cylinders to those in need, has now stepped up to provide 3600 dancers with free monthly ration.

It was choreographer Ganesh Acharya who spoke about Akshay Kumar’s philanthropic work. Akshay Kumar will be helping Ganesh Acharya with monthly ration for 3600 dancers whose details have been registered with his foundation. While speaking to Bombay Times, Ganesh Acharya said that on his 50th birthday, Akshay asked him what present he would like. “I asked him if he could help 1600 junior choreographers and aged dancers and about 2000 background dancers with a month’s ration. He readily agreed. My wife is deeply involved in this activity through Ganesh Acharya Foundation. She personally oversees the packing and distribution, which is done areawise and keeping all the health and safety protocols in mind,” said Ganesh Acharya.

He said that the dancers would get either the money to afford the basics or a food ration kit that will contain basic essentials to feed a small family for one month. The dancers get to decide which one they wish to choose.


Akshay Kumar had tested positive for COVID-19 in April this year. He informed his fans that he was hospitalized, as a precautionary measure. He recovered from COVID after a few days, and his wife Twinkle Khanna shared on social media, “Safe and sound and good to have him back around. #allizwell.”
