It’s hard to blame Akshay for the faux pas given the nail-biting finish which ultimately saw the Indian team losing by nine runs.

Knowing the superstars's love and dedication towards the country and the armed forces, it didn't come as a surprise that he immediately apologized for his mistake.

A few minutes back, Akshay took to his Twitter handle and wrote, “Extending my sincerest apology for violating the code of conduct for the tricolor.Didn't mean to offend anyone, the picture has been removed”

Earlier, Akshay had tweeted a video saying that he ran barefoot to catch a train from Leeds to London, to make it in time to watch the Indian team in the Women’s World Cup 2017 final, between India and England.

Akshay is currently in England shooting for his film, Gold. He travelled in a train for almost 2 hours to reach Lord’s to cheer for Team India. Check it out:

Akshay wrote: "This is how excited I am, never in my life have I run for a train barefoot to make it in time for a match!! Come on #WomenInBlue! #WWC17Final (sic)."
