Ajay Devgn Starrer Maidaan's Makers Could Incur Heavy Losses If Lockdown Extends; Will Have To Erect A 7 Crore Set AGAIN
Film industry has incurred heavy losses due to the lockdown announced with outbreak of Coronavirus. One of the films is Ajay Devgn’s upcoming venture Maidaan, based on the sport of football; makers were scheduled to shoot the final leg of the film in the month of March however with the lockdown, the shooting came to a halt with no definite date to resume the same in the near future. A massive plot was rented by the makers for 2 months and stadium set was erected in order to shoot the final football match sequence.

This set of the stadium which stands unused now, is whopping 7 crore, also the makers of the film need to finish the shoot before monsoon. If not due to the extension of lockdown, then the set needs to be recreated for the shoot. As per reports in Hindustan times, source was quoted saying, “Amit R Sharma [director] was to shoot the last schedule, which focused on all the football matches that will be shown in the film. The set was complete with toilets, make-up rooms and a PCR [production control room] in place. With the set standing unused, there will be a considerable financial setback. If exposed to rains (in case the lockdown is extended beyond May 3), the set will need a complete overhaul.”

Not just the shooting plot, makers had also arranged for technicians and actors from overseas, hence if the lockdown extends beyond May 3, it will cause further issues with their scheduling when the makers resume the filming of the movie.
“Plus, the schedule requires foreign actors and technicians. Their availability will depend on the condition in their countries. Coordinating everything will be a logistical nightmare,” added the source.

Boney Kapoor who is backing this film as a producer, was earlier heard saying, “The players on the ground are a comparatively new lot. Some of them are football players. They have been trained in the game for the last six months and have now become good footballers. We will be shooting in Kolkata also, as it is the main hub of football and the state has a history attached to it.”

Starring Ajay Devgn in lead role, the film also stars Keerthi Suresh, Gajraj Rao, Nitanshi Goel, Boman Irani and Johnny Lever in key role. ALSO READ: Coronavirus Crisis: Bollywood Incurs Massive Loss Of Rs 250-300 CRORE In First-Quarter Of 2020, With Ajay Devgn’s Tanhaji Being The Only Major Hit
