Emraan Hashmi, gearing up for his forthcoming OTT show, Showtime, addressed his past controversial statement about Aishwarya Rai in a recent promotional interview. The Tiger 3 actor shared that he faced repercussions for quite some time after referring to the former Miss World as 'plastic' during a Koffee With Karan episode back in 2014, acknowledging the impact of his words.

The Chehre star shared insights into his past controversial statement on the popular reality show, where he referred to Aishwarya Rai as 'plastic.' In discussing his upcoming show, Showtime, he clarified, "I am portraying a fictional character who speaks candidly. Regarding the mentioned Koffee With Karan episode, I faced the repercussions for quite some time for being straightforward and calling a spade a spade," as revealed to Bollywood Bubble.

He went on to divulge the behind-the-scenes happenings on the sets of KWK following his statement. Emraan recalled, "During that rapid-fire round, Karan [Johar] cut the shot, and there was a moment of silence on the set. He looked around, and everyone seemed astonished. He asked, 'Can we actually keep this [Emraan's answer]?' and a few people behind the camera nodded and said, 'Yes.'"

Back in 2014, Emraan Hashmi featured on Karan Johar's talk show alongside his uncle Mahesh Bhatt. In the rapid-fire round, when asked, "What's the first thing that comes to your mind when you hear Aishwarya Rai Bachchan's name?" the actor responded with 'plastic,' sparking considerable controversy. Additionally, he made a controversial remark about Shraddha Kapoor, suggesting she should eat more.
