Just a few hours back, the team of Padmaavat released the official posters of the film, which is slated to hit theatres on January 25, and now, we have the government of Gujarat banning the film. In a press release, the news was spread across all media houses.
The reports says that the ban was imposed in lieu of "public interest" and "in order to maintain law & order" across the state. Read the full report here:
So now, no theatre across the state would be able to screen the Shahid Kapoor-Deepika Padukone-Ranveer Singh starrer film. It will surely be a big hit to the box-office of the film.
Gujarat isn't the first state to ban the film. Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh have already done it a long while ago. The only few states who openly spoke about releasing the film are West Bengal and Uttar Pradesh.
Sanjay Leela Bhansali has been in turmoiled waters ever since he began working on the film. From disruptions on sets during the filming to Karni Sena vandalising theatres when the first trailer of the film was released, SLB has witnessed everything.
A new trailer of the film is all set to hit social media by tonight. Let's wait and watch whether there is anything different from the previous trailer.
Padmaavat hits theatres on January 25, and it will face tough competition from Akshay Kumar's Padman.
