Aftab Shivdasani Loses Rs 1.50 Lakh In A KYC Fraud; Actor Files A Police Complaint, Investigation Underway- REPORTS
Aftab Shivdasani recently fell prey to a know your customer fraud, where he lost Rs 1.50 lakhs from his account
Bollywood actor Aftab Shivdasani, who has entertained the audience with his versatile performances and comic timing, enjoys a huge fanbase. He recently fell prey to a cyber fraud where Rs 1.50 lakhs were debited from his account when he was asked to update his Know You Customer (KYC) details. According to a report by India.com, he had received a link to update his details in connection to a leading private sector bank on Sunday. As per an official of Bandra police station, he quickly registered a case on Monday.
As per the official, the 45-year-old actor had received a message from an unknown mobile number. The message had instructed him to update his KYC details linked to the bank. The official adds that the message stated that if he failed to do so, his account would be suspended. Quoted by India.com, the official added, “Shivdasani clicked on the link mentioned in the message. As he followed the instructions, he received a message that Rs 1,49,999 were debited from his account.”
The Masti actor then went on to contact the bank’s branch manager on Monday and went on to lodge a police complaint based on his advice. A case has been registered under Section 420 (cheating) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and sections of the Information Technology (IT) Act. Further investigation of the case is underway.
For the unversed, having made a name for himself in the Hindi entertainment industry with movies like the Masti franchise, Hungama, Kya Yehi Pyaar Hai, Awara Paagal Deewana, Aftab likes to lead a low-key life with his wife Nin Dusanj and they daughter Nevaeh, who they welcomed in 2020. Apart from being an actor, he also runs his own production house.
