Prabhas and Kriti Sanon starrer Adipurush’s director Om Raut has got a legal notice from Sarva Brahmin Mahasabha for ‘Islamisation' of Ramayana and deleting certain scenes in seven days or face legal action
Adipurush is the most awaited film of 2023. Fans were waiting for the magnum opus for quite a long time. The film is based on the epic Ramayana. Now, the epic saga has landed in legal trouble. A legal notice has been sent to the makers for deleting certain scenes in seven days or facing legal action. The notice also mentions that the film is ‘Islamisation' of Ramayana.
Advocate Kamlesh Sharma sent a legal notice to Om Raut, the director of 'Adipurush' on Thursday, October 6, 2022, on behalf of Pt. Suresh Mishra, National President of Sarva Brahmin Mahasabha.
The notice read, “The depiction of Hindu Gods and Goddesses is being done in a wrong way in this film. In this film, Hindu Gods and Goddesses are shown in a very distorted form, wearing leather clothes and they are being seen speaking in an indecent manner. In fact, a very low level language has been used in the film which is provoking and hurting religious sentiments. There are dialogues and depictions spreading religious and caste hatred in the film. Ramayana is our history and our spirit, however, in Adipurush, Lord Hanuman is shown as a Mughal. Which Hindu bears a beard without a moustache that Lord Hanumanji has been shown to do.”
The notice further stated that the film is a complete ‘Islamisation' of Ramayana and Hindu gods Lord Ram, Maa Sita and Lord Hanuman. Even Saif Ali Khan who essays the role of Ravana looks more like Taimur and Khilji. “The film is going to spread hatred among a particular class by inciting religious sentiments in the country. This picture is being widely publicised through the Internet, which is completely harmful for our society and country. "You are making a film that hurts the sentiments of crores of Hindus.”
The notice further read, “You are requested not to play with the sentiments of the people, do not stigmatize the faith of the people and depict the film as it is depicted in Ramayana and RamcharitManas.” The Mahasabha requested the makers to delete all ‘dialogue illustrations’ and publicly apologize for the above-mentioned things or else face legal action.
Talking about the film, also faced criticism for poor CGI and VFX. Some of them even called it ‘cartoonish’. In the film Prabhas plays Raghav, Kriti Sanon plays Janki, Saif Ali Khan plays Lankesh and Sunny Singh plays Lakshman. The film is all set to release in cinema hall on January 12, 2022, in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, and Kannada on January 12, 2023, in IMax and 3D.
