Adipurush director Om Raut is facing severe backlash on social media after he was seen kissing Kriti Sanon on her cheek at Tirupati temple. In a video that has sparked controversy, the filmmaker could be seen planting a goodbye kiss on the actress’ cheek as she leaves in her car. And, this has not gone down well with many religious as well as political leaders. Condemning the act, Ramesh Naidu Nagothu, the BJP State Secretary in Andhra Pradesh slammed Om Raut for engaging in PDA at the temple.

In a now-deleted tweet, the BJP minister wrote, “Is it really necessary to bring your antics to a sacred place? Engage in public displays of affection, like kissing and hugging in front of the Lord Venkateswara Swamy temple in Tirumala is deemed disrespectful and unacceptable.” A certain section of people is miffed with Om Raut as they brutally troll him. While one user called it ‘shameless behaviour’ another netizen asked for an apology. Om along with the star cast of the film launched the final trailer of the film at a pre-release event at Sri Venkateswara University Stadium in Tirupati. The event was attended by Prabhas and Kriti, who are playing the lead roles in the mythological drama. While Prabhas will be seen essaying the role of Lord Ram, Sanon plays his wife Janaki. Saif Ali Khan is portraying the role of Lankesh and Sunny Singh will be seen as Lakshmana. 

Bankrolled by T-series, the mythological drama is reportedly made on a budget of a whopping Rs 500 crore. The film is slated to hit the theatres on June 16, 2023.
