Ace Music Director Vanraj Bhatia Bedridden In His Napean Sea Road House, Says 'Not One Rupee Left In My Bank Account'
Music composer Vanraj Bhatia, who once had an illustrious career, is in dire situation today. He is penniless and lives isolated in his Napean Sea Road apartment, and his friends and admirers have started raising funds for his medical care
Senior music director Vanraj Bhatia had a long and illustrious career and was best known for his music for Shyam Benegal's films like Ankur, Manthan, Bhumika, Mandi, Junoon, and many more. Once a celebrated music composer, Vanraj Bhatia is in dire situation today.According to Mumbai Mirror, the musician is now broke and is penniless. He is bedridden and lives all alone in his apartment at the Rungta Housing Colony on Napean Sea Road. His old age and withdrawal from a busy work life has left him isolated with only the domestic help who has been looking after him for the past decade.
According to Mumbai Mirror, he has not been diagnosed with any specific illness as he is not in a condition to afford regular medical check-ups. He suffers from severe knee pain and has to be helped to walk to the other room. He also experiences severe hearing loss and memory lapse. The ace musician shares, "I have no money, not one rupee left in my bank account." Vanraj Bhatia's friends and admirers have also started raising funds for his medical care, however, he is unaware of this. The house, of which the musician has been a tenant, has also been preserved by the help of donations, however it is hardly sufficient.
While most millennials are not aware of Vanraj Bhatia and his immense contribution to music, the previous generations know him for his wide array of work. He has won many award for his music such as the National Award for Best Music for the TV series Tamas and the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award.
