She contested the Lok Sabha elections from the Mandi constituency as a candidate for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Her victory in the elections marked her entry into the Parliament, solidifying her status as both an accomplished actress and a political figure. During the oath-taking ceremony for the newly elected MPs in June 2024, Kangana crossed paths with fellow MP Chirag Paswan, with whom she had shared screen space in the 2011 Bollywood movie Miley Na Miley Hum.

The reunion between Kangana and Chirag, captured in photos and videos, quickly went viral, drawing significant attention from the public. Their camaraderie became a focal point of conversation, with many praising the evident bond between the two. However, the media frenzy surrounding their interactions led to increased scrutiny, particularly after a few lighthearted moments between them were caught on camera.


In a recent interview with Aaj Tak, Kangana addressed the speculation surrounding her friendship with Chirag Paswan. She emphasized that her primary focus in Parliament is to represent her constituency, underlining the seriousness of her political role. Kangana expressed her frustration with the media's fixation on her friendship with Chirag, stating that their casual exchanges were blown out of proportion. She explained that Chirag, whom she has known for many years and considers a good friend, now feels the need to avoid her in public to steer clear of unnecessary media attention. She remarked, "Leave Parliament out of it. It is the temple of our Constitution. I represent my constituency there. Chirag ko main bohat pehle sey jaanti hun, wo mera accha dost hai, bechare ney ek do baar hansa diye mujhe lekin aap log to peeche hi pad gaye, ab wo bhi rasta badalkar chala jaata hai."

Chirag Paswan had also addressed their friendship in an earlier interview with ANI, where he shared his thoughts on the viral photos and videos of their meeting. He confirmed that they had been good friends for a long time and that he had looked forward to reconnecting with her in Parliament. However, Chirag noted that they had lost touch over the past few years due to his busy work schedule. Despite the media buzz, both Kangana and Chirag seem to maintain a respectful and cordial relationship, albeit with more caution given the public's keen interest in their interactions.
