Aamir Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan Among 34 Producers File A Court Case Against News Channels For Using Derogatory Words ‘Scum’, ‘Druggies’ For Bollywood
Some of the top film production banners and 4 leading Bollywood associations have come together to file a lawsuit in the Delhi High Court against ‘irresponsible reporting by certain media houses’. Some of these film production houses owned by Bollywood stars such as Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan, Salman Khan, Ajay Devgn, Farhan Akhtar, Karan Johar and others have approached the court against 2 news channels- Republic TV and Times Now. The suit has been filed against Republic TV's Arnab Goswami and Pradeep Bhandari; as well as Times Now and Rahul Shivshankar and Navika Kumar of the channel.

The producers said that the channels used derogatory words and expressions for Bollywood in the last few months. Terms like "filth", "scum" and "druggies”, as well as provocative expressions such as – It is Bollywood where the dirt needs to be cleaned"; "All the perfumes of Arabia cannot take away the stench and the stink of this filth and scum of the underbelly of Bollywood"; "This is the dirtiest industry in the country"; and "Cocaine and LSD-drenched Bollywood" were allegedly used.

The producers in their lawsuit said that the channels and social media platforms must “refrain from making or publishing irresponsible, derogatory and defamatory remarks against Bollywood and its members.”

Apart from this, the producers said that they wanted the channels to stop with the media trials and infringing upon the privacy of the members of the film industry. They also want the channels to withdraw, recall and take down all the defamatory content published by them against Bollywood.
