Aamir Khan: Salman Khan’s ‘Raped Woman’ comment was ‘Unfortunate’ and ‘Insensitive’

Salman Khan had triggered a national outrage after SpotboyE.com quoted the actor as saying that he used to feel like a ‘Raped Woman’ during Sultan’s hectic shoots (Salman: I have left every vice except women, June 20).

At the launch of Dangal’s poster a short while ago, Aamir Khan said Salman’s comment was ‘insensitive’ and ‘unfortunate’.

When asked if he would like to advise Sallu about anything, Aamir said, “Who am I to advise Salman?”

Now, take a look at the poster:

Dangal’s posters will be displayed at all theatres screening Salman’s Sultan, which is an Eid release. Lavishing praises on his Andaz Apna Apna co-star, Aamir said, “There’s no doubt about Sultan being a blockbuster.  I am happy to get a small corner on such a huge platform (Sultan) -- that way, people will know about our film, too.”

So, is he saying Salman is a bigger star? “Any day. When Salman and Shah Rukh Khan enter a room, they look like stars. But when I walk in, I look like a waiter.”

Quickly realising that he had had a classic ‘foot-in-the-mouth’ moment, Aamir clarified, “I didn’t mean it like that. Waiters are great people and I have a lot of respect for them.”

Aamir also refuted rumours of rift with Sallu. He said, “There’s no tension between us. In fact, we even owe the title ‘Dangal’ to Salman. Its copyright was with Puneet Issar, who is a good friend of Salman. It was Salman who requested Puneetji to give the title to us.”

Aamir, who hasn’t had a release in over one-and-a-half years -- his last film was PK (2014) -- looked slim-n-trim at the event, which was held at a Mumbai five-star.

Also present were director Nitesh Tiwari and co-producer Siddharth Roy Kapur.
