25 Years Of Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge: Simran AKA Kajol Says 'I Thought She Was A Little Old-Fashioned But Cool'
As Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge completed 25 years, beloved Raj and Simran aka Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol took to their social media accounts and expressed their gratitude towards their fans for loving them for all these years
Touted to iconic and classic, Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol starrer Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, fondly called DDLJ, completed 25 years today. Helmed by directed by Aditya Chopra, the film is hailed as the most loved romantic film in the history of Indian cinema. DDLJ gave us the beloved and charming Raj and a beautiful and vivacious Simran, and since then Raj and Simran were never the same for us. DDLJ not only shattered all box office records but also became one of the biggest all-time blockbusters in the history of Hindi cinema. It also went on to become the longest-running Hindi film of all time as it has played in theatres for 25 long years. As DDLJ is still an all-time favourite for many and they still shower the film with love, Raj aka Shah Rukh Khan and Simran aka Kajol have taken to their Instagram accounts and shared their gratitude towards their fans who are still loving the film.
While sharing a small clip of DDLJ, SRK said that this film always feels special, as he wrote, "25 years!!! Filled with gratitude towards you for loving Raj & Simran, with all your heart. This always feels special. #DDLJ25 @yrf" Whereas Kajol too shared a behind-the-scenes video and backed it with a caption that read, "Raj & Simran! 2 names, 1 film, 25 years and the love doesn't stop coming in! I am truly grateful to all the people who made it what it is today.. a phenomenon and a part of their own history. The fans! Big shoutout to all of you #25YearsOfDDLJ @yrf @iamsrk"
Talking about his character Raj, SRK said, “Raj was unlike anything I had done. Before DDLJ, there was Darr, Baazigar, Anjaam—films in which I had portrayed negative characters. Also, I always felt that I wasn’t cut out to play any romantic type of character. So, when I was presented with the opportunity by Adi and Yash ji to essay the role, I was excited to work with him but had no idea how to go about it and also if I would be able to do it well.”
While speaking about her character Simran, Kajol said, “I thought Simran was a little boring to be honest, but I recognized her. I realized there is a lot of Simran in almost everybody we know, there is always that wanting to do the right thing in someone. Lot of people don't do the right thing but we always want to do that. You want to get that approval, you want to get that feeling of you are approved of and that you are doing something right in the world. So, yes Simran was like that. I thought she was just cool, a little old-fashioned but cool.”
