10 Days Ultimatum Given To Nana Patekar By Women’s Commission; Accused Asked To Give Statement On Tanushree Dutta's Allegations
Maharashtra State Commission for Women has sent legal notices to Nana Patekar, choreographer Ganesh Acharya, producer Samee Siddiqui and director Rakesh Sarang. The commission has given them 10 days ultimatum to share their statement over Tanushree Dutta’s sexual harassment allegations
After Tanushree Dutta filed a complaint with
Maharashtra State Commission for Women about alleged sexual harassment
allegations, they have sent legal notices to Nana Patekar, choreographer Ganesh
Acharya, producer Samee Siddiqui and director Rakesh Sarang. The four have been
given 10 days time to reply to the sent legal notices and share their
statements over the allegations.
Commission chairperson, Vijaya Rahatkar, told Mumbai
Mirror, “It is the responsibility of the producers, directors and the
associations concerned to prevent such instances. There has to be some redress
mechanism to register such complaints within the industry. We have sought reply
from the four in this case. We will also call Tanushree before the commission
to put forth her side.”
Speaking about the complaint, Tanushree Dutta’s lawyer
Nitin Satpute, had told ANI, a few days back, “The complaint has been lodged
with the Maharashtra State Commission for Women. Tomorrow, we are going to move
the complaint to the District Officer as per the Sexual Harassment Act Section
9.”
A couple of days back, Tanushree Dutta accused Nana
Patekar, Ganesha Acharya of teaming up against her while shooting Horn OK
Pleassss in 2008. In her interviews, the actress claimed that she was forced to
do lewd, vulgar and uncomfortable dance steps with Patekar which were added at
the 11th hour.
Soon after Tanushree ignited the fire of #meToo,
many other Bollywood celebs and women have come out in open. Alok Nath, Vikas
Bahl, Rajat Kapoor, comedian Gursimran Khamba, Kailash Kher are among others
who have been accused of sexual harassment.
