‘Vidya Balan Is The Template Of A Perfect Human Being', Says Neil Bhoopalam-EXCLUSIVE
Neil Bhoopalam, who started his career with Vidya Balan’s No One Killed Jessica, talks about how she had changed when he worked with her again almost a decade later in Shakuntala Devi
Vidya Balan is one the most versatile, talented and loved actresses in the Hindi film industry. Ever since her debut in 2005 with Parineeta, she has given numerous memorable and amazing performances, including the National-award winning portrayal of Silk in The Dirty Picture, that kind of paved a new path for her career. Before and after that, she did some more amazing work in films like Paa, Kahaani, Ishqiya and Tumhari Sulu.
Currently, Vidya is gearing up for the release of her next, Sherni, where she plays an upright Forest officer, on June 18 on Amazon Prime Video. Last year, she had another release on the platform with Shakuntala Devi. The film also had a cameo of actor Neil Bhoopalam, who played Vidya’s former boyfriend in the film. Neil also kind of started his film career ten years ago in another Vidya Balan film, No One Killed Jessica.
Ask Neil how Vidya changed in all that time, and he responds, “She still looks the same.” He goes on to heap praise for his co-actor. “As a performer, Vidya is a supreme kalakaar, one of India’s best,” he asserts.
Neil goes on to recall an incident from the sets of No One Killed Jessica, where he realised how nice Vidya was. “We were shooting in Delhi at AIIMS hospital during a night schedule. She wasn’t in that scene that we were shooting at the time, but I was. Still, she went up to the monitor to look at my shot and then came up to me saying that she thought it was a really good performance. It felt really nice that she took the trouble. As a lead actor, you have so much to do but to still be able to be mindful of others around them, is very nice,” he smiles.
Neil goes on raving about Vidya saying her energy is infectious. “No wonder why people just adore her. Her personality and her drive are just she being who she is. I just want to give a big thanks to Anu Menon for getting me on board for Shakuntala Devi so that I could work with her again. I have to say that Vidya Balan is the template of a perfect human being and everyone needs to arrive at that level,” he signs off gushing.
