Veteran actor Nana Patekar has made a name for himself with her powerful and versatile performances. He is one of the rare gems who get immersed in the characters they are playing. On Wednesday, a video of the actor hitting a fan on top of his head, for wanting to click a selfie with him, went viral on social media. This caused an uproar among the netizens who called him rude names. Now, filmmaker Anil Sharma has issued a clarification on the same.

In an interaction with Aaj Tak, Sharma cleared the air surrounding the viral video and shared how the actor didn’t slap anyone. The video that is currently doing the rounds on the internet was a glimpse of his upcoming directorial Journey. He explained how they were filming the scene on the road in the middle of Banaras, when a boy came up to Nana and had to be hit on the head. The Gadar 2 filmmaker went on to add how people from the crowd must have recorded the snippet on their phones and then leaked it on social media. Quoted by News18, Sharma says, “Now, Nana is being projected as a negative and rude actor on social media, which is completely wrong. Through Aaj Tak, I would request that the fans understand the truth of this video. This is a shot from the film. For those who don’t know, Patekar was recently roped in to play a pivotal role in Journey starring Utkarsh Sharma. The movie reportedly is a tribute to the timeless appeal of a true family bond. 

Talking about his last directorial, Gadar 2 is a sequel to the blockbuster hit Gadar: Ek Prem Katha (2001). The partition drama followed the journey of Tara Singh (Sunny Deol) who falls in love with a Pakistani Muslim girl Sakina (Ameesha Patel). After they get married and have a kid (Utkarsh Sharma), Sakina is forced to go to her country by her father, leaving her family. The father-son duo then goes to Pakistan to rescue her. The sequel focuses more on the father-son relationship and how Tara goes to rescue his son, who is captured in Pakistan. Released on August 11th, 2023, the movie is directed and produced by Anil Sharma.
