"If Needed, Will Defer The Release Of Blackmail For Irrfan Khan," Says Abhinay Deo
In the wake of Irrfan Khan opening up about struggling with health, Blackmail director Abhinay Deo told a leading daily that he will defer the film's release once he hears from Irrfan
Irrfan Khan left his fans shocked when he went on social media and hinted at being diagnosed with a rare disease yesterday. With the revelation, what happens to his upcoming film Blackmail, which is slated to hit theatres next month?
Talking to a leading daily about the same, director Abhinay Deo said, "As of now, the film is going to release as per schedule on April 6. It all depends on what news comes from Irrfan and his doctors' end. Then we can take a call and defer the release, if needed."
Deo also said that he hasn't spoken to Irrfan about his health yet and was giving him and his family their much needed privacy. "I read his message of twitter and it was shocking to find out about his health. He never showed any signs of illness while we were shooting for Blackmail, nor did he mention anything about it. I am sure the doctors are doing their best and providing necessary treatment. I haven't called him because he and his family are taking care of the situation, and during such a time, they need their privacy," added Deo.
Deo also lauded Irrfan for opening up about his illness to all his fans. "It's commendable of him to come out on a public forum and speak about what he is going through, as this will put and end to speculations that may have started," concluded Deo.
For those who've come in late, here's what Irrfan's open letter said:
Sometimes you wake up with a jolt with life shaking you up. The last fifteen days, my life has been a suspense story. little had I known that my search for rare stories would make me find a rare disease. I have never given up and have always fought for my choices and always will.
My family and friends are with me and we are working it out the best possible way. In trying times, please don't speculate as I will myself share with you my story within a week - ten days, when the further investigations come with a conclusive diagnosis. Till then, wish the best for me!
- Irrfan
Now there is no clarity as yet about what Irrfan is going through. All we can say right now is - get well soon Irrfan.
