Producer-director Shiv Kumar Khurana dies due to an age-related illness at a hospital in Mumbai
Producer-director Shiv Kumar Khurana breathed his last on 25th October at Brahmakumari Global Hospital in Mumbai. He died at the age of 83 due to an age-related illness. Shiv has given the industry several hits and is known to direct movies such as ‘Mitti Aur Sona’, ‘First Love Letter’, ‘Badnaam, Badkaar’, ‘Bud Naseeb’, Be ‘Aabroo’, ‘Begunah’, ‘Jaalsaaz’, ‘Sone Ki Zanjeer’ and ‘Inteqam Ki Aag.’ Kumar’s tragic demise has indeed left a huge void in the Hindi cinema and his death was mourned by many celebrities and eminent leaders on social media.
Actor Vindu Dara Singh took to Twitter to pay his heartfelt tribute to Khurrana. He wrote, “wonderful soul may god give his family the strength to bear this irreplaceable loss.” Shiv Kumar had launched Vindu in Bollywood with the film ‘Karan’ in 1994.
Shiv Kumar had also produced three of his own directed movies namely ‘Dagabaaz’, ‘Hum Tum Aur Woh’ and ‘Ang Se Ang Lagaley’. He was the first director in the industry to have signed the late legendary actor Vinod Khanna as a hero. Back in the mid-90s, Vinod was mainly known for playing antagonists in movies and hence the directors used to cast him only for villain roles until Shiv Kumar roped him in as a hero in his film.
Shiv Kumar is survived by his wife and two sons. His prayer meeting will be held today i.e. October 28 from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Gurudwara Sri Guru Singh Sabha, Four Bungalows, Andheri West.
